Awards
Incwriters adminstrates three binannuals awards The Incwriters OCL(M)* Award (established 2006), The Milner Place Prize for Poetry (established 2010) and The Incwriters Fiction Prize (established 2010).
* Outstanding Contribution to Literature (Magazines).
These awards are administrated by Incwriters. The awards celebrate the best in UK magazine writing. The two new awards The Milner Place Prize for Poetry and The Incwriters Prose Prize will celebrate work from individual poets and writers in magazines. All these awards are not monetary, they acknowledge the changing face of UK Literature and are judged by industry peers and readers.
The Incwriters OCL(M) Award 2012
The binannual award will open its reading in January 2012, and the winner will be announced in Summer 2012. No shortlist comments will be provided in the 2012 award. Judges will be announced in December 2011 and will comprise of a poet, a fiction writer, an editor (who won the award previously), a reader and an adjudicator. The Milner Place Prize for Poetry 2012
This new biannual award can only be entered by publishers nominating poets in magazines submitted for the OCL(M) award. Reading period will start in January 2012 and the single winner will be announced in Summer 2012. The award is in the ethos of Milner Place awarding the poem rather than the poet. To this end the prize is selected by readers via an electronic voting system to take place on the Incwriters website. Entry forms will be posted here in January 2012. The Incwriters Prose Prize 2012
The second of two new awards, The Incwriters Prose Prize is binannual. Celebrating pieces of fiction, factual work and editorials. These must be nominated by publishers submitting to the OCL(M) Award. Work must be published in the magazines submitted for the OCL(M) award. The Prize is selected by readers via an electronic voting system to take place on the Incwriters website. Entry forms will be posted here in January 2012. NOTE: These two new awards mean that up to three magazines can win one of these awards. It will not always follow that those that won the OCL(M) will win either The Milner Place Prize for Poetry of The Incwriters Prose Prize.
The Incwriters OCL(M) Award 2010 is postponed to 2012. This allows Incwriters to concentrate on the Save Our Presses Campaign.
The Incwriters OCL(M) Award 2008 – BANIPAL
Banipal was selected as the winner of the 2008 award at Manchester Central Library on the 11th March 2008. Incwriters and Banipal worked together over a twelve month period. www.banipal.co.uk
The OCL(M) judges for 2008 were Andrew O’Donnell (Poet), William Park (Incwriters & Poet), Libby Tempest (Cultural Services Manager, Manchester Central Library), Andrew Oldham (Writer & Academic), Cath Nichols (Poet) and G.P. Kennedy (Incorporating Writing). The shortlist was nominated by Incwriters Members.

The Incwriters OCL(M) Award 2006 – TRANSMISSION and MSLEXIA
Transmission, judges chose this magazine because it showed a strong commitment to short story publishing, the craft of the short story and prose writers. With a strong eye for design and content, the magazine has built up a distribution network, attracted new and established names in publishing.
Mslexia, judges were bowled over by this magazine, though targetted at Female Writers and Readers. Judges felt there was something here for everyone, that is pushed boundaries in content, craft and style. Mslexia has proven track record, with a strong distribution network and a proactive stance on subscriptions.
