Carol Ann Duffy is the new patron of the excellent Camden and Lumen Poetry events and project, which not only help publishers and poets: proceeds go to support the Cold Weather Shelter. I was really pleased to hear the news about Carol Ann Duffy from the event organiser, Ruth O’Callaghan, who works tirelessly to make these such well attended evenings.
Publishers present their writers and new books during the evening, and poets from the floor also submit poems and read. Poems from the audience are considered for an anthology each year where they appear alongside well-known poets. Ruth asks for a publisher to sponsor the anthology each year so this is a great opportunity for publishers to get involved.
I help out and I’ll be on the wine table this Friday, 5th February, doors open at 6.30pm, so you can meet me sloshing out the drink!
Publishers can also arrange a reading for their poets so this is a great event for those in the London and South East region, although publishers do come from all over. On Friday it’s Acumen Poetry, with poets including Alan Brownjohn.
Come along at 6.30, and these events are held frequently in Camden and also Lumen Poetry (Kings Cross). Friday’s event is at Trinity United Reform Church, 1 Buck St, Camden Town (2 minutes Camden Town tube).
Hope to see you and to say hello.

This is great news and we hope this grows as a venue.
